I have been trying to download Oracle Database 11g release 2 for mac os but in the given link by oracle I can only see Linux x86 and Linux x86-64. Is this ok to use this Linux file for installing oracle database in mac
Your first step is to download the Download the Oracle Express Edition version 18c (xe) Linux rpm from oracle.com. Oracle's docker files do support other editions, but the Express Edition is sufficient for getting started.

You should now have a docker image named oracle/database:18.4.0-xe which you can start using docker. Run docker images from Terminal to look for it and make sure it is there. The total size of the image will be around 8-9GB.
By default the passwords for the SYS, SYSTEM and PDBADMIN user are all the same autogenerated password printed into the output after the setup has finished. You can of course just use that password going forward or you may wish to reset it to something more memorable. The VM provides a simple setPassword.sh shell script that will allow you to reset all the passwords at once to a password of your choice. Simply call /home/oracle/setPassword.sh and the rest will be done for you:
oracle-12201-vagrant: INSTALLER: Environment variables set oracle-12201-vagrant: unzip: cannot find or open /vagrant/linux122.zip, /vagrant/linux122.zip.zip or /vagrant/linux122.zip.ZIP. oracle-12201-vagrant: No zipfiles found. The SSH command responded with a non-zero exit status. Vagrantassumes that this means the command failed. The output for this commandshould be in the log above. Please read the output to determine whatwent wrong.
I noticed the following during testing.Installing Oracle Express Database - oracle-xe In docker works perfect on recent Mac Pro - but attempting to test Oracle Database 12c (12.1.0.2) installation on latest Mac using Docker on Mac does not work and the same errors as was noted in Virtualbox.
When running the Oracle Database Installer - in silent mode to install the Oracle 12c 12.1.0.2 Database software the installation fail with similar issue that was noticed in VirtualBox - The oraclelinux:6.8 image is used and all pre-requisite packages was installed.
The fastest way to get going with Oracle APEX is to request a free workspace hosted on apex.oracle.com. It takes just a few moments to sign up and within minutes you'll have your workspace ready to start building your first app. 2ff7e9595c
